Our Sustainability Practices
When we talk about sustainability in our studio, we’re not talking about perfection. We’re talking about practice. Thoughtful choices. A slower pace. A refusal to cut corners when it comes to how things are made—and how long they last.
Every mug, planter, or plate we create is rooted in the belief that beautiful things should never come at the cost of the earth or the people who live on it. Here’s how we bring that belief to life in our day-to-day.
1. We Work in Small Batches
We don’t produce for volume. We produce for care.
Every collection we release is thrown, trimmed, glazed, and fired in intentional, limited runs. We don’t overstock. We don’t overproduce. That means less waste, fewer discarded pieces, and more room for creativity and revision.
When a piece doesn’t meet our standards, it’s not tossed. We recycle clay, rethink the form, or find a new purpose. Every piece is made with two hands and full attention—never rushed, never stamped out.
2. Every Piece Is Designed to Be Used
We design ceramics that earn a place in your daily rituals—not your donation pile.
Our mugs, bowls, and vessels are created to be functional, timeless, and personal. The goal is simple: to replace the disposable with something dependable. That’s a radical act in a fast-consumption world.
Longevity is sustainability. And when a piece becomes your favorite, you're less likely to toss it in favor of something trendier next season. That’s where we want to live—in your hands, not a landfill.
3. reusing clay & water, always
Pottery is an ancient practice, and one of its oldest lessons is this: nothing is wasted if you’re paying attention.
Every scrap of clay trimmed from a bowl or pulled from a failed form is saved and recycled into future work. We rehydrate trimmings into workable slip, wedge reclaimed clay for new batches, and reuse water throughout the process. It’s a messy cycle, but a meaningful one.
We believe the process of making should mirror the values of what we make: thoughtful, cyclical, and rooted in care.
4. We Mix Our Own Glazes In-House
Every glaze you see on our pieces is developed and mixed in our studio. We don’t outsource this part of the process because glaze chemistry holds weight—it affects not just the look of a piece, but its safety and its impact.
Mixing in-house allows us to:
Source ethically: We know where our raw materials come from, and we avoid additives that could be harmful or environmentally unsound.
Avoid harmful chemicals: No lead. No shortcuts. Just tested, food-safe, durable finishes.
Experiment responsibly: We test every glaze variation for consistency and performance, so you don’t end up with flaking, cracking, or unsafe wear.
By doing the work ourselves, we stay accountable—to our customers and the craft.
5. We Reuse & Recycle Packaging
You might notice your order comes wrapped in kraft paper, recycled bubble wrap, or a repurposed box—and that’s on purpose. We’ve built a packaging system that’s protective and low impact.
Here’s what we do:
Reuse incoming materials from supply shipments.
Source recyclable boxes, paper tape, and filler.
Avoid single-use plastics unless absolutely necessary for fragile items.
Encourage you to reuse or recycle everything we send.
Our shipping might not look overly polished—but it’s effective, honest, and rooted in the same values as the ceramics inside.
6. We Make Fewer, Better Things
Our studio isn’t built for mass trends. It’s built for timeless work that holds emotional value.
We’re not chasing scale. We’re chasing connection—between you and the piece you choose, between the work and the way it’s made. That means taking time with each collection. Saying no to overproduction. Making sure every item is something we’re proud to put our name on.
Sustainability, for us, means resisting the pressure to make more and focusing instead on making things that truly matter.
Sustainability That Feels Like Home
We don’t claim to have it all figured out. But we believe that how something is made—and why it’s made—matters. It shows up in the ridges of a hand-thrown bowl, the character of a glaze, and the extra second we take to wrap your order in honeycomb paper.
Thank you for supporting our studio. For choosing the slow-made over the mass-made. For being part of a better way to live with beauty.
